Ofsted Report reaffirms Good Rating and highlights Outstanding features 

St Charles College is celebrating a significant achievement following its recent Ofsted inspection in January 2025, where it was rated "Good" with Outstanding features. This exceptional result reflects the dedication and hard work of both the students and staff, as well as the college’s commitment to providing a supportive and enriching environment for its learners.

Outstanding Recognition for Behaviour and Attitudes 

One of the highlights of the Ofsted report was the college’s Outstanding rating in Behaviour and Attitudes. The report emphasized that “students thrive in an inclusive learning community” and that they are “highly motivated and ambitious”. This respect, responsibility, and positive attitude was evident by the very good attendance and punctuality of students and that they “enjoy their lessons and are keen to make progress. In class, they are attentive, participate enthusiastically and focus very well on tasks that their teachers set.”  

The college has created an environment where students not only feel safe and supported but also motivated to engage in their learning and extracurricular activities. 

Personal Development: A Key Strength 

The college also received Outstanding recognition for Personal Development. The report addressed the college’s four day a week qualification study, with the remaining day explicitly focused on developing students’ wider personal skills. One of the standout programs at St Charles College is the College Passport, which allows students to engage in a variety of activities designed to enhance their personal development and prepare them for life beyond the classroom. As part of this program, students complete two work placements, participate in volunteering opportunities, and engage in activities that deepen their understanding of London’s rich culture. 

Through the College Passport, students gain valuable real-world experience by immersing themselves in the workplace and contributing to their local communities through volunteering.  Inspectors reaffirmed its importance stating that students “develop valuable new knowledge, skills and behaviours that help them take their next steps.” 

The college’s emphasis on promoting resilience, independence, and teamwork is helping to shape students who are well-prepared for the challenges of the future.  

Exceptional Recognition for High Needs Provision 

One of the most significant highlights of the Ofsted inspection was the Outstanding rating for the college's High Needs Provision. The inspectors commended the college for providing high-quality support to students with additional learning needs, ensuring that all students, regardless of their individual challenges, are given the tools they need to succeed. The report addressed the “extensive specialist support” and the “individualised one-to-one teaching” which results in students making “exceptionally rapid progress in developing the skills and knowledge they need” to achieve their qualIfications.

The Ofsted report is a proud moment for St Charles College, reflecting the combined effort of its dedicated staff and motivated students. College leaders expressed their delight at the positive outcome, with many highlighting the importance of working together to create a nurturing and high-achieving environment.

Our recent OFSTED inspection has further reinforced our commitment to excellence. The high expectations set by our dedicated staff have contributed to the development of ambitious students who are consistently pushing themselves to reach their full potential. 

The latest Level 3 Value Added (Lv3VA) data released reflects our status as a high-performing institution. We are proud to be ranked highly, amongst other sixth form colleges.
