During March a group of our amazing students and staff celebrated International Women’s Day (8th March 2024) by coming together for a coffee and cupcake morning to show solidarity for this IWD 2024 theme of “Inspire Inclusion”. Based on the UN Commission on the status of Women’s priority theme of Invest in Women- Accelerate progress, the themes were apt for a group of our students inspired to embrace equity, follow their own dreams and achieve their career aspirations while examining the pathways to greater economic inclusion for women and girls everywhere. This was significant for them on a day that draws attention to the achievements and ongoing challenges faced by women around the world.

Students collectively embraced the day donning slogans reflecting the Inspire Inclusion theme. Zara stated “Women’s economic empowerment is key to a gender equal and equal access to education and employment pathways are central to this. We are very fortunate at St. Charles with our education opportunities.”

Sara commented “We won’t be able to reach gender equality unless women and girls are given equal opportunities to build their capabilities and strengthen their capacity to learn, earn a living and become leaders.”

Helga said “Access to quality education and training is essential as are raising literacy levels and providing financial support to communities where women are struggling.”

We certainly have our own trailblazing women here at St. Charles! The cupcakes for the morning’s inspiring gathering were provided by Parisa De Freitas, a Level 3 ICT student here at St. Charles. Parisa is a young entrepreneur herself, having built and grown a successful business alongside her studies. We all certainly enjoyed them Parisa and all present agreed that when we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world for all.
