LS students at St. Charles
host Macmillan Coffee Morning!
On Friday the 29th September 2023 a group of students from the Learning Support Department at St. Charles organised a scrumptious cake sale to mark the official Macmillan Coffee Morning. The students involved were Hamida, Omar, Navinu and Ahmed, supported by LS staff Soteria, Tania, Jack and Munira.
Students and staff enthusiastically baked cakes knowing the money raised from the sale of the cakes helps fund the work of the amazing Macmillan nurses as part of Macmillan’s vital work with people living with cancer. Nav commented “knowing the money raised will help people living with cancer live life as fully as they can motivated me to get involved.”
Hamida said “I wanted to be involved and help as I learnt how Macmillan nurses offer such good support to cancer patients.”
Ahmed stated “I always like volunteering in the College community and helping out” and Omar added “I was pleased to help with the fundraising with my friends as it shows we care.”
In addition to the bake sale, Soteria from the LS Department organised a raffle with some of her own paintings, which she enjoys doing in her free time, as prizes! Overall a great team effort with approximately £200.00 being raised to date for the charity. Thank you to all who supported us!
