LS Student of the Month
Navinu joined St. Charles from West London Free School. He is currently in his first year here studying Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Art and Design, GCSE English and Maths. Navinu is a friendly, cooperative and positive young man. He has made new friends here at St Charles and is popular among his peers.
Navinu is making excellent progress this year and is thoroughly enjoying his courses. His Art teachers, Ms Helmsley, Ms Abbas and Ms Elwood describe him as having “a great attitude in his Art and Design lessons, always getting straight down to the task in hand. Nav responds really well to feedback and always strives to improve his work. He is helpful and asks great questions.”
Ms Thompson, Navinu’s Caseworker, describes him as “a talented artist whose work is always precise and meticulous. He has recently produced some excellent work in clay and he deserves to take pride in his progress since September. He is respectful and cooperative and has settled into college extremely well.” Ms Guerro, Navinu’s Maths teacher remarked that “he is extremely polite, displays an excellent attitude, and has very good approach to his work”.
Ms Lancaster who works closely with Navinu was particularly impressed with his commitment to his Ethics’ social action programme ‘Just Give’ activities where, with two peers, he volunteered to wash staff cars in order to raise money for their chosen Charity, ‘Steel Warriors’. This charity aims to make society aware of the dangers of knife crime and also melts down knives confiscated by the Police to make gym equipment. His group’s presentation was so successful that they were short-listed and chosen to speak to a panel of senior teachers including the Principal and a representative of the ‘Just Give’ organisation in the final competition. Everyone commented on Navinu’s responsible and focussed delivery in the presentation.
In addition to his studies, Navinu uses his free time creatively: he plays the guitar, watches YouTube and enjoys online games. He is also very resourceful and skilled in fixing and adapting objects such as his remote-control cars using old motors to improve the cars he already has.
We are all proud of Navinu’s accomplishments so far at St Charles and we look forward to seeing him progress onto further studies and supporting him in his academic journey and personal development.
